Testimonial:
I just happened to come across your links page (click here) while I was looking for some hospice and palliative care resources. One of our residents parents took a turn for the worse over the weekend. We are all very close here at Oak Forest so I wanted to compile some resources to help the family during this difficult time. I just wanted to take a quick second and say thank you for helping me out, the resources and information you posted will be very helpful.

On behalf of the family and myself, thanks again for your help.

Sincerely,
— Erin D.

About Us

Karina Simonson, DNP, ARNP, FNP-BC

Karina (Kari) is a board certified family nurse practitioner. She began her career in nursing in 1993 after graduating Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Florida International University. Motivated by the faculty at FIU and the focus on higher learning, she immediately enrolled in the Family Nurse Practitioner Masters program at UF. Upon graduating in 1996, she began a career that included roles as a primary care provider, women’s health provider, researcher, and emergency care/urgent care provider.

A continued interest in higher learning but with a focus on clinical outcomes motivated Kari to enroll again at the University of Florida and she earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree in 2012. Her primary focus was on improving clinical outcomes in primary care, including reducing non emergent demand on hospital emergency rooms and improving patient access to primary care. She worked with volunteer medicine programs and provided free health care to underserved Brevard County citizens.

Kari is a lifelong Brevard county resident, and she and her daughter enjoy an active lifestyle, including taekwondo, where they both earned the rank of second degree black belt. They also regularly compete in dressage with their horses Madison and Paris.
